Laura King leads the marketing practice area at SkyWater Search Partners. As our division leader, Laura also works a “full desk” in recruiting. The SkyWater marketing division focuses primarily on leadership and executive-level searches for companies of all sizes in Minnesota seeking to hire local talent.

Laura has placed more than 180 marketing executives into Twin-Cities-based organizations since 2013. Laura is a four-time President’s Club Winner, founder of Marketers’ Community, and a proud mom to four young boys. Prior to her agency recruitment career, Laura joined the talent acquisition industry in 2005 and placed hundreds of candidates and consulted global companies including UnitedHealth Group, Microsoft, Target, Best Buy, Thomson Reuters, and more.

If you could give your younger self advice, what advice would you give?

Worry less about what others think of you, and just be yourself.

What’s one thing you wish all candidates knew about job searching?

Focus on quality over quantity. The energy you bring to your job search and the people you meet during the process will come back to you years later if you look at the time as a chance to build more meaningful relationships vs. have it be a transactional approach.
