Director of EHS (Hybrid)
Our client is a prominent manufacturer specializing in industrial products, dedicated to quality, innovation, and sustainability. Our commitment to maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible workplace is paramount. We seek a Director of EHS to enhance our EHS programs and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Position Summary:
The Director of EHS will play a key role in developing, implementing, and overseeing environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant workplace. This role demands a strategic leader with extensive knowledge of EHS regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities:

EHS Program Development: Create and implement comprehensive EHS programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Regularly review and update these policies as needed.

Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to EHS regulations and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and state/local guidelines. Conduct routine audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.

Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on EHS policies, procedures, and best practices. Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.

Incident Management: Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses. Analyze root causes, recommend corrective actions, and monitor progress to prevent recurrence.

Environmental Stewardship: Manage environmental practices, including waste management, resource conservation, and emissions control. Ensure compliance with environmental permits and reporting requirements.

Safety Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety and environmental performance. Prepare and present reports to senior management on EHS performance and improvement initiatives.

Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the primary contact with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders. Stay updated with EHS legislation and industry trends to anticipate and address potential regulatory changes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with other departments, including Operations, Human Resources, and Engineering, to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of the business. Support the implementation of safety initiatives and projects.

Crisis Management: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures. Coordinate emergency drills and ensure preparedness for potential environmental and safety incidents.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred.

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in EHS management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards.

Proven experience in developing and implementing EHS programs and managing compliance.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient in EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
