Director of Software Engineering
SkyWater Search has been retained by a Twin Cities-based organization to recruit a Director of Software Engineering. With a global footprint and over 40 years in business, this company is charging toward the next generation of their SaaS products.
With a local office of over 200 employees, our client is hiring this position to lead a team of 20 engineers & report to the VP of Engineering. This company has recently experienced double-digit growth through acquisition and advancements in their product offering. This is a highly technical and tenured staff that maintains a healthy work culture and passion for technology; we are looking for a leader to continue to develop the talent and bring positive energy to the department while working with executive leadership to define the future of their flagship software.
Technically, this organization subscribes to a modern tech stack from a development perspective (.NET CORE, C#, React) paired with a cloud hosted platform (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes) and we’re looking for a Director with experience close enough to the code and architecture to where they can help make design decisions and step into a code review (theoretically, but not in reality).
This is a permanent position that includes a base salary, bonus, and benefits. Our client is not able to offer sponsorship at this time, and we’re only considering candidates that are local to the Twin Cities area (hybrid).
Responsibilities
- Hire & Lead a team of Software Engineers and promote a culture of growth
- Work in conjunction with Senior Leadership team to improve products and overall process
- Manage contracts & budgets related to the software development org
- Support Agile/Scrum and Project Management planning and processes
- Ensure team passes all standard security audits
- Bring a positive, mental attitude to the organization
Desired Skills and Experience
- 4 year technical degree, Master's preferred
- 10+ years of professional experience, former software architecture/engineering background preferred
- Experience leading a team of software engineers
- Experience deploying web applications to public cloud (AWS or Azure)
- Experience in a SaaS environment
- Local to Minnesota
- Cannot require sponsorship
