General Counsel
SkyWater Search Partners is assisting a real estate development company with its search for a General Counsel.
The General Counsel will serve as the first attorney for the company and will be responsible for overseeing and managing all legal matters. This is a high-level, hands-on role where the General Counsel will work directly with the executive team, including the CEO, to provide legal guidance across a wide range of areas including real estate transactions, contracts, regulatory compliance, and employment-related matters. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in real estate law, preferably within the development industry, and will be able to build and manage legal processes to support the company’s business objectives.
Desired Skills and Experience
- J.D. (Juris Doctor) from an accredited law school, and active membership in good standing with the state bar. - Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, with significant expertise in real estate law, ideally in real estate development, zoning, land use, or construction law. - Strong experience negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contracts and legal documents, particularly in the real estate development sector. - Proven track record of providing strategic, high-level legal advice to senior management teams, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into actionable business solutions. - Experience with corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management. - Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and maintain a high level of professionalism in a fast-paced environment. - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
