Role Overview
In this role, you will manage all aspects of a construction site from the initial planning stages through to the project’s completion. Your responsibilities will include daily scheduling, overseeing activities and tasks, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring the site operates safely and meets all compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management and Coordination (70%)
- Implement and uphold safety protocols, including OSHA standards and company/client-specific safety guidelines.
- Develop and manage project workplans.
- Create and maintain a 3-week rolling schedule.
- Oversee on-site subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Organize weekly meetings with contractors to discuss work progress and address any issues.
- Handle the submittal process efficiently.
- Keep detailed daily logs and document construction progress with photos.
- Verify that all project work and materials from vendors comply with project plans, legal requirements, permits, and building codes.
- Perform quality control checks and audits.
- Identify and manage risks associated with the project.
- Review and interpret work to ensure compliance with design drawings, product specifications, and relevant regulations, and report deviations to the Project Manager.
- Ensure that work meets or exceeds industry standards and best practices.
- Enforce project timelines to ensure on-time and high-quality completion.
- Maintain the field office and keep the site organized and clean.
Client Interaction (30%)
- Act as the main on-site contact for the project owner.
- Serve as the central communication point for all parties involved on site, ensuring timely information flow and effective project facilitation.
- Address and resolve issues promptly, collaborating with the team as necessary.
- Use feedback to enhance communication and streamline processes for future projects.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in construction management.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex projects effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven integrity and capability to build long-term, trust-based relationships.
- Highly organized and self-motivated.
- Ability to hold oneself and others accountable to ensure project progress.
- Solid understanding of building codes and construction practices.
- Proficiency in computer applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam.
- Experience with reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
- Willingness to travel 30-50% of the time and adapt to flexible scheduling.
Preferred:
- Certifications such as OSHA or CCM.
- Experience in safety training.
- Proficiency with Procore.
- Experience with K-12 facilities and programs.
- Ability to translate technical information into client-friendly language.
