Project Manager

In this role, the primary responsibility is to act as the main point of contact for clients during the construction phase of various projects. Client satisfaction is ensured while projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with specified requirements.

Principal Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Oversight of construction management activities is provided, including relationship enhancement with clients and management of project scope, schedules, budgets, costs, deliverables, and change orders for diverse construction and renovation initiatives.
  • Coordination and direction of trade contractors are conducted.
  • Monitoring of project progress and quality is carried out.
  • RFIs, submittals, and change orders are reviewed.
  • Participation in project meetings and planning sessions is expected.
  • Communication channels, such as reviews with owners, are established to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Risks to both the organization and the client are mitigated.
  • Related issues such as safety, authorizations, and third-party coordination are monitored.
  • Support and documentation for project management are provided to the organization as required, including bids, schedules, cost reports, and cash flow projections.
  • Contractor resources and resolution of issues with design teams are coordinated.

Client Engagement

  • A liaison role is fulfilled between clients, staff, and construction management teams.
  • Challenges and issues are addressed with urgency, collaborating with the project team as necessary.
  • Insights are applied to enhance future communications and processes.

Team Leadership

  • Day-to-day coaching, feedback, and guidance are provided to ensure effective team performance.
  • Development opportunities for team growth and improvement are identified and supported.

Education, Skills, and Experience

Required Qualifications

  • A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least 7 years of experience in the building systems or operations field is expected.
  • A strong understanding of scheduling and risk management is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • The ability to translate technical jargon and project-related information to meet client needs is necessary.
  • Demonstrated success in problem-solving and delivering innovative solutions is required.
  • A proven capacity to operate with integrity and empathy while building trust-based relationships is essential.
  • A self-directed and highly organized approach to work is necessary.
  • Accountability for driving projects forward is expected.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam is required.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting plans and specifications is necessary.
  • Knowledge of codes and contract law is essential.
  • General accounting knowledge is preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30-50% of the time with flexible scheduling is expected.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as OSHA and CCM are preferred.
  • Safety training is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Procore is preferred.
  • Experience with K-12 facilities, programs, and priorities is an asset.
