SkyWater is thrilled to be partnering with an industry leading manufacturing company that is looking to add a Senior Accountant to their growing organization. This company is a premiere provider of high-performance equipment, and one of the only organizations in the US that manufactures this type of product. We are seeking a detail-oriented Sr. Accountant to perform essential financial operations, such as transaction recording, account reconciliation, and month-end processes. This role also focuses on enhancing inventory accuracy, refining cost calculations for labor and overhead, and driving continuous improvement in financial workflows.
 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with operations teams to streamline processes and identify cost-saving opportunities through comprehensive reporting.
  • Monitor profit margins and provide insightful analysis.
  • Assess and update product costs regularly.
  • Analyze aging inventory and determine potential write-offs.
  • Track raw material expenses and evaluate price variances.
  • Compare actual manufacturing costs to standard costs monthly, identifying discrepancies.
  • Forecast material costs on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Develop initiatives to minimize material, labor, and overhead cost variances.
  • Improve cost forecasting accuracy and analyze deviations from expected results.
  • Partner with procurement teams to optimize inventory management.
  • Maintain up-to-date standard costs for parts.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and perform necessary journal entries for month-end close.
  • Support month-end financial close by preparing journal entries and reconciling balance sheets.
  • Assess the financial outcomes of engineering projects.
  • Generate and deliver financial reports to Corporate Finance.
  • Collect cost-related data to aid in budgeting.
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake additional tasks as needed to support the department and company.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in cost accounting or similar roles, ideally in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Competence in arithmetic operations, including whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to interpret numerical data using statistical methods.
  • Understanding of basic algebra for equation manipulation and modeling scenarios.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with knowledge of advanced functions (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with cost accounting standards and GAAP.
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Keen analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Upholds ethical standards when handling sensitive financial information.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends or evenings during month-end closing to meet business needs.
