Position: Senior Estimator

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed conceptual estimates for large, diverse, and complex projects, based on pre-construction documents, design specifications, and cost data. This position involves leading a regional estimating team, preparing budgets, and providing expert advice to project teams, all while ensuring safety and quality standards are met. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in shaping project cost strategies and fostering positive relationships with subcontractors and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate and comprehensive conceptual cost models, budgets, and guarantees based on project documents, historical data, and subcontractor input.
  • Lead the preparation of bids, budgets, and cost breakdowns, ensuring alignment with company templates and established protocols.
  • Analyze project documents, specifications, and program requirements to generate precise cost estimates.
  • Oversee the preparation of backup documentation for bids and presentations to clients and project teams.
  • Provide consultative guidance on constructability, project schedules, phasing, and staffing.
  • Assist in value engineering and provide recommendations for cost savings and alternative approaches.
  • Maintain a comprehensive history of project costs and compare estimated versus actual costs.
  • Develop relationships with subcontractors, manage bidding processes, and negotiate contracts to secure the best pricing.
  • Lead and facilitate collaboration between project participants, including contractors, owners, designers, and subcontractors.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members, fostering a culture of growth and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in pre-construction and estimating for large projects (over $30 million).
  • Additional certifications such as DBIA or LEED AP are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, building systems, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and project management tools (On Center, Timberline, MC2 preferred).
  • Ability to travel to client and project sites as necessary.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present estimates clearly and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting relationships with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues.
  • Highly analytical with a strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
